About Mainstone Counselling & Psychotherapy

Jodie Mainstone
Psychotherapist | Counsellor| Clinical Supervisor | Trainer

Dip Couns, MBACP (Accred), AP (Accred), NCAC
BACP & AP Registered Psychotherapist & EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant Supervisor

I’m a BACP and AP registered and accredited Psychotherapist, and an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant Supervisor, with over 20 years’ experience supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and psychological experiences.

Since qualifying in July 2007, I’ve worked across various settings in both the UK and South Africa, including well-known treatment centres and therapeutic organisations. These experiences have given me a broad and in-depth understanding of therapeutic interventions and clinical practice. By 2017, I had taken on several senior roles within organisations and began building my private practice, which I now run full-time.

I currently see clients in person in Hampstead (NW3) on Mondays, offer online sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and provide occasional pre-booked EMDR intensive sessions on Sundays.

My delightful dog Izzy sometimes joins me on intensive days for clients who like animals and can benefit from the calmness and sense of grounding a dog can bring into a therapeutic space.

My areas of specialism include trauma (PTSD and complex PTSD/ attachment trauma), eating disorders and I am especially passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals (ADHD and Autism amongst other differences) and I work from a neuroaffirmative perspective. I also see many clients with diagnosed and undiagnosed anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and who have had bereavements.

My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic models to suit each client’s individual needs. These include person-centred therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, psychodynamic therapy and systemic therapy. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model—instead, I adapt my approach to work in a way that feels right for you. Above all, I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate space where you can explore what’s going on and develop new tools to move forward.

Alongside my clinical work, I offer supervision to integrative therapists and EMDR therapists working towards EMDR accreditation.

I also provide bespoke training for clinicians on various topics related to clinical practice and inclusion, tailored to specific needs of the organisation. I have had to the pleasure of training substance misuse services, adolescent services, eating disorder services, behavioural health companies and educators in the special educational needs sector. You can find out more on my consultancy and training website: www.mainstoneconsulting.co.uk.

My journey into therapy began with seeking support for myself—an experience that continues to shape and ground my work. I remain passionate about what I do, and feel privileged to support people on their journey towards healing and growth.

If you're looking for a genuine, experienced and down-to-earth therapist, please feel free to get in touch.
