Jodie Mainstone - Psychotherapist/Counsellor & Supervisor

Dip Couns, MBACP (Accred), AP (Accred), NCAC, BACP Registered Psychotherapist/Counsellor & EMDR Europe Accredited Therapist and Consultant in Training

I qualified as a Psychotherapist in July 2007 and spent the first five years working in facilities and organisations gaining valuable and varied experience. By 2012 I had gained various senior roles within organisations and I started my private practice part time. I now work in private practice on a full time basis. I work in Hampstead NW3 on Mondays, Online on Wednesdays and in South Kensington SW7 on Thursdays.

I have worked as a therapist both in the UK and in South Africa at various well known treatment facilities. I have almost two decades of experience working with various client groups including, clients with eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, addictions, low self-worth, bereavement and clients with family and relationship issues or attachment trauma. However, I have extensive experience of working with clients with eating disorders and trauma (PTSD and CPTSD) and I am considered an expert within this field. I am also trained and work with many Neurodivergent clients such as Autistic individuals and those with ADHD. I am neurodiversity affirming and believe in the social model of disability.

I use an integrative approach which means I use various therapeutic modalities in order best meet the needs of my clients. I fit therapeutic approaches to clients and not clients to therapeutic approaches. This is because I believe everyone is unique. Some of the approaches I use are person centered therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Systemic and Psychodynamic. My main purpose as a therapist is to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore and process their difficulties and learn new tools.

I became a therapist after seeking help for some of my own life difficulties. I believe that my personal experiences as well as professional experiences have shaped me into the therapist that I have become. I am very passionate about what I do and feel truly grateful to have been able to play a part in other people’s journeys.
