Jodie Mainstone - Psychotherapist/Counsellor & Supervisor

Dip Couns, MBACP (Accred), AP (Accred), NCAC, BACP Registered Psychotherapist/Counsellor & EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant/ Clinical Supervisor

I became a qualified Psychotherapist in July 2007 and dedicated the first five years to working in various facilities and organisations, where I gained a wealth of diverse experience. By 2012, I had taken on several senior positions within these organisations and began my private practice on a part-time basis. Now, I focus on my private practice full-time, seeing clients in Hampstead NW3 on Mondays and offering online sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Throughout my career, I have provided therapy in both the UK and South Africa at several renowned treatment centres. With two decades of experience, I have worked with a wide range of client groups, including those facing eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, addictions, low self-esteem, bereavement, and relationship or attachment challenges. I have particularly extensive experience in treating clients with eating disorders and trauma (PTSD and CPTSD), and I am recognised as an expert in this area. Additionally, I am trained to work with many neurodivergent clients, including individuals with autism and ADHD, and I embrace a neuroaffirmative approach, supporting the social model of disability.

My therapeutic style is integrative, allowing me to draw from various modalities to best serve my clients' needs. I tailor my approaches to fit the individual rather than forcing clients into a specific therapeutic framework, as I believe that each person is unique. Some of the methods I utilise include person-centered therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Systemic therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy. My primary goal as a therapist is to create a safe and nurturing space for clients to explore their challenges and acquire new coping strategies.

My journey into therapy began when I sought help for my own life challenges. I believe that both my personal and professional experiences have shaped me into the therapist I am today. I am deeply passionate about my work and feel incredibly fortunate to contribute to the journeys of others.
